Business Website Design Points Part II

When it comes to business website design, the Golden Rule is this: Keep It Simple Stupid.

In other words, although you want your business website to look nice and grab the viewer’s attention, you don’t want the essential information to get lost in the flash. Ask yourself such things as:

Is your contact information prominently displayed on every page of the business website?

Does the business website state what your specialty areas are?

Can the viewer easily tell what sets you apart? What your qualifications are?

Is the business website easy to navigate from one page to another?

Remember: The purpose of your business website is to sell, not to intimidate.

The Design Factor: Part I

The design of a business website is just as important as search engine content. Although when people thing of company website design they think of flashy sites with great animations, the real key to successful website design is simplicity.

As a general rule, when it comes to business websites, the more you try to do the less you’ll actually accomplish. In other words, the more ground you try to cover, the more congested the company website becomes and the less likely it is your visitors will find what it is they are looking for. With a simple company website, you can easily create a unique design that sets you apart from the competition.

You have just seconds for your business website to grab the viewer’s attention. In these next few blog posts, we’ll look at how you can make design work for your company website.

Staying visible doesn’t all happen on the actual business web page itself. Half of staying visible actually occurs behind the scenes.

Successful search engine marketing means more than just SEO content keywords, it also means strategically using such search engine optimization tools as title tags, alt tags, mega tags and various HTML code elements. Another essential behind the scenes search engine optimization tool that ensures your business website stays visible is links – the more links you have connecting your website to other quality websites the more relevant your business website will be.

Staying Visible (Part III)

As you regularly update your business website in order to stay visible with the search engines, the key is to integrate keywords into your website content. Keywords are the key to search engine optimization. When creating keyword rich SEO content, be sure to keep in mind these three things:

1. The broader the better. When working on search engine optimization of a website, remember that people not in your business or trade are your targeted audience. Thus, do not use SEO content keywords that only you and your business peers would use. Instead, target a variety of keywords. The result will be that your business website has more search engine appeal and thus better results.

2. Think local. Although on the one hand you want your company website to be broad, you also want your search engine optimization to be focused. By this we mean the focus should be on your city or state (or states depending on where you are located). The narrower your geographic location, the better search engine optimization performance your business website will have.

3. Keep it Simple Stupid. Yes, keywords are essential, but don't overdo the search engine optimization. Your SEO content has to be interesting to read, otherwise visitors will just pass by before heading to an company website that has more relevant information.
