Brussels has developed a reputation as being a global legal hub - but nobody will argue that it’s a hub along the same lines as Tokyo, New York or London. Instead, comparisons to Washington, D.C. are often made – meaning that Brussels is seen primarily as a regulatory legal market orbiting around the European Union.
Granted, if it wasn’t for the EU, Brussels wouldn’t even make the global legal map. But because of its playing host to the Union’s numerous institutions, every major international legal firm has some degree of a presence here in Belgium. Yet interestingly, when you start talking to the movers and shakers of the Belgian legal sector, you quickly learn that Belgium has evolved beyond being a purely regulatory market.
In this month’s edition of AmCham Connect, we focus on the legal sector here in Belgium, with visits to law firms, interviews with lawyers and discussion on all things legal-related. As always, Klenske Ink handled the editorial, production and publishing.
